PROJECT MANAGER

CONSTRUCTION-FEDERAL

REPORTS TO: PRESIDENT/SENIOR PM

LOCATION:  VARIOUS

Position Summary:

Participate in all aspects of construction on Federal projects under the direction of the Senior Project Manager. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress and project costs. Communicate directly with sub-contractors and employees concerning project activities, staffing, quality control, scheduling, and implementation of project milestone and goals. Will represent the company at regular project status meetings with owners and engineers and take appropriate action to solve problems. Applicant must be willing to relocate to project sites for multi-year projects within the Continental United States.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with superintendents and foremen to plan, organize and direct construction activities.

  • Help establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications.

  • Oversee project submittals and prepare RFI's as needed.

  • Work with Senior PM to maintain liaison with owners and other contracts to facilitate project activities.

  • Monitor and control project through administrative direction of on-site foremen to ensure project is completed on schedule, within budget and adheres to contract specifications.

  • Investigate potentially safety concerns and implement corrective measures.

  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete project.

  • Help formulate reports concerning such area as work, progress, costs and scheduling.

  • Work with unions, when applicable, to assign workers to construction sites to work on specified projects.

  • Prepare project status reports for upper management.

Reporting to this position are:

Subcontractors, vendors, laborers, operators, administrative assistants.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent degree /experience combination.

  • Approximately 10 years of experience in construction industry.

  • Knowledge of administration, management, project scheduling, construction methods.

  • Knowledge of public safety, security issues, and OSHA regulations.

  • Excellent computer skills.

  • Adequate knowledge of CPM to ensure timely contract completion.

  • Able to work with plans and specs and coordinate with sub-contractors to complete federal construction projects.

  • Current Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

  • Ability to coordinate and manage own time and manage personnel resources.

  • High degree of accuracy is extremely important in the performance of this job.

  • Must be able to coordinate and lead employees among different levels of organization.
