LOCATION:  VARIOUS

Position Summary:

Construction equipment operators use heavy machinery to move construction materials, earth, and other heave materials at construction sites. They operate bulldozers and excavator equipment that clears and grades land to prepare it for crypt fields and columbaria.

Essential Functions:

  • Check to make sure that equipment functions properly

  • Clean, maintain, and make basic repairs to equipment

  • Report malfunctioning equipment to supervisors

  • More levers, push pedals, or turn valves to activate power equipment

  • Drive and maneuver equipment

  • Coordinate machine actions with crew members in response to hand or audio signals

  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Operator or HR Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Have knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work.

  • Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.

  • Ability to complete daily activities according to work schedule.

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.

  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

  • Maintain a clean work area: pick up all tools and equipment and secure work area each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.

Work Context:

  • Construction equipment operators drive, maneuver, or control the heavy machinery used to construct crypt fields, columbaria and other structures when needed. Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust and dirt.

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or move an object.

  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.

  • Noise level is generally load.

  • Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.

  • Excellent stamina is required.

  • Hand-eye-foot coordination. Workers should have stead hands and feet to guide and control heavy machinery precisely, sometimes in tight spaces.

  • Construction equipment operators must perform basic maintenance on the equipment they operate. As a result, they should be familiar with hand and power tools and standard equipment care.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Must pass mandatory Physical Examination and Pre-Employment Drug Screen.

  • Must have good attendance and ability to work within a team environment.

  • Knowledge of operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers and excavators.
